Onboarding

To get started with Cost and Asset Management, complete the following steps:

  1. Set up Cost and Asset Management with your IBM Service Integration Leader.
  2. Launch CAM and click the settings icon settings in the upper-right corner of the screen to view Settings options.
  3. Click Providers & Accounts to add cloud providers. For information about adding service provider accounts, see Adding Service Provider Accounts and related topics.

    • Cost and Asset Management supports the following service providers:

      • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Services that provide utilization
        - Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)     
        - Relational Database (RDS)     
        - Reserved Instances (RI)
        
      • Microsoft Azure Services that provide utilization

        - Virtual machines (VMs)      
        - OS disk       
        - SQL Database
        

        Note: Azure China and Azure Germany are not supported. The heat map displays utilization only for virtual machines at this time.

      • IBM Cloud Services that provide utilization
        - Virtual Compute
        
      • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Services that provide utilization
        - Compute Engine      
        - Persistent Disk    
        - Cloud storage
        
  4. Click Budgetary Units to manage Budgetary Units.
  5. Click Tags to manage tags, allowing assets and charges to be categorized and assessed..
  6. Click Policy Settings to manage Policy Settings for cloud assets.
  7. Click User Management to manage teams and users.
  8. Click Currency to manage currencies and conversion rates.
