Add Portable Software Instance From a Download Server (Step 3 of 4)

You can use the add action on the Portable Software Instance page to add a portable software instance by downloading the files for the Portable Software Instance from a download server to the z/OSMF host system.

The Jobs table lists the jobs that z/OSMF generated as output for Add Portable Software Instance From a Download Server (Step 3 of 4). The jobs are stored in the specified partitioned data set on the target system. For more information on how to complete this process see Adding portable software instances from a download server.

Field Description
JCL data set name Name of the partitioned data set in which z/OSMF stored the jobs.
Target system Name of the z/OSMF host system that has access to the volume where the partitioned data set resides.

Columns in the Jobs table

Column Description
Sequence Order in which you are to submit the jobs.
JCL Data Set Member Name Member name z/OSMF used when adding the job to the partitioned data set on the target system. Click the name link to view the generated job control language (JCL).
Description Description of what occurs when you submit the job.
System System where the job runs when it is submitted.
Status Status of the job. One of the following values is displayed:
  • Canceled icon Canceled. The job was canceled.
  • Complete icon Complete. The job completed with a zero return code.
  • Warning icon Complete. The job completed with an acceptable non-zero return code.
  • Complete icon Complete (Override). The Override Complete action was invoked for the job, indicating that the job should be considered complete regardless of whether the job was submitted.
  • Error icon Error. The job did not complete successfully. See the Return Code column for more details.
  • In Progress icon Submitted. The job has been submitted and JES has assigned it a name and ID. The job may be running or it may be in the input queue.

If the Status column is blank, the job has not been submitted.

Messages Indicator of whether a message has occurred for the job. If a message occurred, one of the following indicators is displayed:
  • Message ID. A single message exists. The ID of that message is displayed.
  • If multiple messages exist, one of the following is displayed:
    • Information icon Information. Information messages exist.
    • Warning icon Warning. Warning messages exist. Information messages might also exist.
    • Error icon Error. Error messages exist. Information and warning messages might also exist.

To display the messages, click the link or status icon. If a message ID is displayed, you can also view the message by hovering over the message ID link.

Job Name Name that is specified for the job on the JOB statement.
Job ID ID assigned to the job by the Job Entry Subsystem (JES) when the job is submitted.
Return Code Return code value JES provided for the job. The return code can have one of the following values:
  • ABENDU. The job ended abnormally with a user ABEND.
  • ABENDS. The job ended abnormally with a system ABEND.
  • CANCELLED. The job was canceled.
  • CC nnn. The job ended normally with completion code nnn.
  • CONV ADEND. The job ended abnormally with a converter ABEND.
  • CONV ERROR. The job ended abnormally with a converter error.
  • JCL ERROR. The job ended abnormally because a JCL error occurred.
  • SEC ERROR. The job ended abnormally because of a security error.
  • SYS FAIL. The job ended abnormally because of a system failure.

If the Return Code column is blank, the job has not been submitted, is in the input queue, or is still running.

Job Class Class in which the job runs.
Last Submitted Date and time the job was last submitted. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Submitted By User ID of the user who last submitted the job. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Last Cancelled Date and time the job was last canceled. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Cancelled By User ID of the user who last canceled the job. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Last Override Completed Date and time the job was last marked Complete (Override). This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Override Completed By User ID of the user who last marked the job Complete (Override). This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.

Actions for jobs

The actions are described in the following tables:

  • Table 3. Actions that apply to the selected download jobs. To use a targeted action, select one or more download jobs.
  • Table 4. Actions that apply to the entire table. No selection is required.

Action Description
View Select one of the following options:
  • JCL. View the job control language (JCL) generated for the selected download job. To enable this action, select only one download job.
  • Job Output. View the output of the selected download job. To enable this action, select only one download job that has been submitted.
Submit Job Run the download job on the associated system. To enable this action, select the next job in the sequence after the previous job in the sequence completes.
Purge Remove the job output from the spool. To enable this action, select one or more jobs that have been submitted, but are not currently running.
Cancel Cancel the job. To enable this action, select only one job that is running.
Override Complete Mark the selected jobs complete so you can submit the next download job in the sequence. To enable this action, select one or more jobs.

Select All Select all of the rows in the table.
Deselect All Deselect all of the selected rows in the table.
Configure Columns Select the columns to display in the table, specify the order of those columns, and designate which columns should be fixed in position when the table is scrolled horizontally.
Hide Filter Row Remove the filter row from view. This action is listed only when the filter row is displayed in the table.
Show Filter Row Display the filter row. This action is listed only when the filter row is not displayed in the table.
Clear Sorts Clear the sort from all of the columns in the table. This action is disabled if no sorting is specified in the table.
Export Table Data Select one of the following options:
  • Current® View: Export only the rows and columns that are currently included in the table.
  • All Data: Export all the rows and columns that are available for the table.
Print Table Data Select one of the following options:
  • Current View: Print only the rows and columns that are currently included in the table.
  • All Data: Print all the rows and columns that are available for the table.
