Route Table
Use this panel to create or modify a route table. The route table consists of two tables. One table contains static route entries, or those entries that are not modified by routing algorithms such as OMPROUTE. The other table consists of dynamic entries that are subject to modification by these routing algorithms.
Before you begin, decide on the values and settings that you want to specify in the steps below.
Steps
- Enter a name for the route table. Names must be 1-8 characters. Route table names must be unique.
- Optionally, enter a description for the route table. This description may be up to 70 characters in length.
- Configure entries separately for each table. For the table of static routes:
- Click Actions > New to add a new entry to the list of static routes. A panel will open to allow you to enter static parameters for this new entry.
- Select an existing entry and click Actions > Modify to edit the parameters associated with the selected entry. A panel will open to allow you to make changes to the entry.
- Select an existing entry and click Actions > Delete to remove the selected entry from the list of static routes in this route table.
- Select an existing entry and click Move Up to move the selected entry higher in the table. Since priority is determined by position, this has the effect of boosting the priority.
- Select an existing entry and click Move Down to move the selected entry lower in the table. Since priority is determined by position, this has the effect of reducing the priority.
- For the table of dynamic routes:
- Click Actions > New to add a new entry to the list of dynamic routes. A panel will open to allow you to enter dynamic parameters for this new entry.
- Select an existing entry and click Actions > Modify to edit the parameters associated with the selected entry. A panel will open to allow you to make changes to the entry.
- Select an existing entry and click Actions > Delete to remove the selected entry from the list of dynamic routes in this route table.
- Click Advanced to open a panel allowing you to configure the multipath routing algorithm selection, path MTU updates selection, or dynamic XCF Addressing selection.
You have completed this panel when you have added all static and dynamic routes that you want to associate with this route table. If dynamic XCF Addressing is not used, route tables must contain at least one static or one dynamic route entry.
Remember that a TCP/IP stack can only use up to 255 route tables cumulatively in all rules. Use the Health Check button from the stack view to see if you are approaching this limit.
