VLAN / QDIO Priority Tagging
Use this panel to access settings related to Virtual LAN (VLAN) priority tagging and device priority tagging.
- VLAN priority tagging
- This function allows you to correlate the TOS byte in outgoing IP packets to a priority in LAN frames according to IEEE 802.1Q specifications. Specifically, it sets the packet priorities for switches.
- Device priority tagging
- This function allows you to correlate the TOS byte in outgoing IP packets to a priority for interfaces that use OSA-Express configured in QDIO mode.
You can chose to enable or disable the function.
Before you begin, decide on the values and settings that you want to specify in the steps below.
Steps
- If you want to enable the VLAN and device priority tagging function:
- Select the Enable priority tagging check box.
- You can chose to set priority tagging the same for all interfaces, or the advanced user may want to set different priorities for different interfaces. If you want to set the same priorities for all interfaces:
- Click Enable for all interfaces.
- For each TOS value in the table select the VLAN Priority and the Device Priority.
- For Advanced users that use Differentiated Services Code Points (DSCP), you can add DSCP values to the table by clicking Actions > Add a DSCP value. After adding a DSCP value to the table, select the VLAN Priority and Device Priority for the new DSCP value.
- If you want to set different priorities for different interfaces:
- Click Enable for only the following interfaces.
- Click Actions > New for each interface for which you want to enable priority tagging.
- If you want to disable the VLAN and device priority tagging function, clear the Enable priority tagging check box. This is the default.
You have completed this panel when you have specified in the steps above the values and settings that are required or that you want to have different from the defaults.
