QoS Performance Logging
Use this panel to access settings related to QoS performance collection.
You can chose to enable or disable the policy performance collection function. This function is used to collect QoS performance monitoring data. The performance data can be collected on a policy rule or action or on both rules and actions. Policy Rules map to the GUI's connectivity rules and traffic descriptors. Policy actions map to the GUI's priority levels and traffic shaping levels. The collected data can also be logged to a specified performance log file for offline collection and monitoring by a user application, or can be accessed in near real time using the Policy API (PAPI).
Before you begin, decide on the values and settings that you want to specify in the steps below.
Steps
- If you want to enable the policy performance collection function:
- Select the Enable QoS Performance logging check box.
- Select what to monitor. The default is connectivity rules.
- Type the full path of the log file name. It cannot be an MVS™ data set. There is no default.
- Type the number of log files. The default is 3.
- Type the maximum log file size. The default is 300 KB.
- Type the sampling interval for data written to the log file. The default is 30 seconds.
- Type the minimum sampling interval for data retrieved by the Policy Agent. The default is 30 seconds.
- If you want to disable the policy performance collection function, clear the Enable QoS Performance logging check box. This is the default.
You have completed this panel when you have specified in the steps above the values and settings that are required or that you want to have different from the defaults.
