Policy Data Import

Restriction: The Policy Data Import function is deprecated as of z/OS V2R2 Communications Server and will be removed in future releases. No updates or improvements for the Policy Data Import function have been added since z/OS V2R1. New policy configuration enhancements that are added since z/OS V2R1, including new options, functions and parameters, will not be imported.

Use this panel to import policy data from a Policy Agent installed on a z/OS® system. The technology perspective at the time that you initiate this request will be the policy data imported. The Policy Agent must be at Version 1, Release 10 or later.

Before you begin, review the Policy Data Import tutorial , which includes instructions for required Policy Agent setup.

Additionally, decide on the values and settings that you want to specify in the steps below. Even if you are satisfied with the default port, you must enter values for the other input fields on this panel.

Steps

  1. Type the name or address of the z/OS system from which you want to import policy data in the host name field.
  2. Type the port on which to connect to the Policy Agent. The default value is 16311.
  3. Type the User ID with which to connect with the Policy Agent in the user name field. The User ID and Password will be used to authenticate the user's access to the Policy Agent.
  4. Type the password for the User ID.
  5. Click Save password to have this Network Configuration Assistant save the password that you enter and use it the next time you use this panel to access the Policy Agent.
  6. If you want to protect the transmission with SSL. use the AT-TLS technology perspective and enable the Default_PolicyAgentImport rule in order to protect configuration data passed during the policy data import.
  7. Enter the image name and stack name that will be used to identify the policy data that you want to import. These fields may be disabled if you are importing policy data into a specific image or stack.
  8. Select the method used to identify the policy data to be imported.
    • Select Import active stack policy to retrieve the policy data that is currently defined in local configuration files. The stack name from this panel is used to communicate to Policy Agent the name of the active stack policy. The policies retrieved for the active stack must be local to the Policy Agent. Policy data import is not supported when Policy Agent is acting as a policy client and retrieving remote policies from the policy server.
    • Select Import policy from files to load policy data from specific files stored on the host. Policy Agent will parse policy data from these files and return this data to the Network Configuration Assistant.
  9. The import policy data request must be authorized against a SAF SERVAUTH profile which includes the stack name, and technology. If the SERVAUTH profile is based upon a stack name that is different than the one in this request, select the check box and enter a different import request name.
  10. Click Go to initiate the import of the policy data.
  11. Click View Report to view the results of the policy data import.

You have completed this panel when you have specified in the steps above the values and settings that are required or that you want to have different from the defaults.
