Planning to manage scratch pools with EDG_EXIT100 z/OS DFSMSrmm Implementation and Customization Guide SC23-6874-00 |

You define pools to DFSMSrmm in parmlib that the EDG_EXIT100 installation exit selects for new tape data sets that are to be created on nonspecific volumes. During OPEN processing DFSMSrmm uses the pool that you specify to validate that a scratch volume has been mounted from the selected pool. You can define each pool with different attributes and each pool can either be a scratch pool or a rack pool. You can use DFSMSrmm ACS storage group support instead of the EDG_EXIT100 exit selected pooling. Refer to Using SMS tape storage groups for DFSMSrmm scratch pooling for information about using the DFSMSrmm storage group support.
