SMS Configurations

z/OS DFSMS Introduction

SMS manages DASD, tape, and optical disk storage according to the information in the currently active configuration. An SMS configuration includes the following items:
  • Base configuration
  • SMS classes and groups
  • ACS routines
  • Tape library definitions
  • Optical library and drive definitions
