Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy over Fibre Channel Protocol

z/OS DFSMS Introduction
SC23-6851-00

You can use PPRC with Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) connections. Using FCP significantly speeds up PPRC link transfer rates and eliminates the need for ESCON® infrastructure where it is not needed for anything other than PPRC connections. However, the FCP protocol transfers data more efficiently than ESCON. FCP achieves a throughput greater than four times the fastest ESCON connections.
