When performing a sort with the IBM® DFSORT^™ program, you can, by including the CKPT parameter in sort control statements, cause checkpoint entries to be written and an automatic checkpoint/restart to be requested. The job control language can be used to request automatic or deferred step restarts or a deferred restart at a checkpoint.
