Checkpoints can be taken with VSE tape files opened with the bypass leading tapemark option LABEL=(,LTM) and/or the bypass embedded VSE checkpoint records option DCB=(OPTCD=H) specified. However, a checkpoint must not be taken when an opened data set resides on a VSE 7-track tape, is written in translate mode, and contains embedded checkpoint records.
