Specifying a storage group priority for space management functions

The storage group processing priority of the volumes assigned to an SMS storage group may be specified within the storage group definition. The default value is 50. DFSMShsm will process all of the SMS volumes in the order of the processing priority, with 100 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. This processing priority can help ensure that storage groups that need to be processed first during interval migration, on-demand migration, and primary space management are done so in order.

Note: This processing priority can help ensure that storage groups that will be receiving data sets as the result of class transitions are processed first, in order to free up the necessary space for the expected new allocations.
