MONITOR (SPACE and NOSPACE): Printing volume space-use messages

Explanation

SPACE and NOSPACE are mutually exclusive, optional parameters of the MONITOR parameter that specify whether to print volume space-use messages when DFSMShsm performs a space check for interval migration, on-demand migration, or primary space management. The three messages printed are: ARC0400I, ARC0401I, and ARC0402I.
SPACE
Volume space-use messages are printed to the system console, the DFSMShsm log, and the appropriate activity log.
NOSPACE
Volume space-use messages printed to the DFSMShsm log and the appropriate activity log only.

SMS relationship

The SPACE and NOSPACE parameters have the same meaning when applied to SMS-managed or non-SMS-managed volumes or data sets.

SETSYS default

None.

DFSMShsm default

If you do not specify the SPACE or NOSPACE parameter on any SETSYS MONITOR command, the DFSMShsm default is NOSPACE.
