SELECT (ACTIVE and RETAINDAYS): Displaying information about active and retained backup copies

Explanation: ACTIVE and RETAINDAYS are optional subparameters of SELECT that specify what information is to be displayed about about active and retained backup copies

ACTIVE
specifies that DFSMShsm is to display the backup information about the active copies of the data set and the total number of backup copies.
RETAINDAYS
specifies that DFSMShsm is to display the backup information about the active and retained backup copies that have RETAINDAYS specified at the time of backup. Version and generation number do not apply to retained backup copies, and therefore are not displayed in the LIST output.

Defaults: If you specify SELECT without specifying either RETAINDAYS or ACTIVE, DFSMShsm displays information about both active and retained backup copies. The output contains zeros for generation and version numbers for retained copies, and "****" in the field of the RETAINDAYS value for copies that do not have RETAINDAYS specified during backup.
