RACF indicator with always-call

RACF®’s response to resource management authorization requests depends on the RACF indicator setting.

If the authorized requester (the caller) informs RACF that it believes the data set is protected by a discrete profile (by using the RACFIND=YES parameter), RACF first looks for a discrete profile. If none is found, RACF checks for a matching generic profile. If no generic profile is found, RACF rejects the request.

If the authorized requester (the caller) informs RACF that it believes the data set is not protected by a discrete profile (by using the RACFIND=NO parameter), RACF checks only for a generic profile.

A fundamental difference exists between RACF-indicated and non-RACF-indicated data sets. If no profile is found, RACF denies requests for RACF-indicated data sets but allows access for non-RACF-indicated data sets.
