VSAM data sets

The password for each VSAM data set is stored in a catalog record for each specific VSAM data set. Therefore, MVS™ maintains the VSAM passwords during DFSMShsm processing as a part of the regular catalog creation and updating.

DFSMShsm User Command	Password You Must Supply
HALTERDS	The master password of the base cluster.
HBACKDS	The master password of the base cluster.
HBDELETE	The master password of the base cluster.
HDELETE	The master password of the base cluster.
HMIGRATE	The master password of the base cluster.
HRECALL	The master password of the base cluster.
HRECOVER	If the data set to be recovered exists, supply the current master password of the base cluster. If the data set does not exist, supply the master password of the base cluster that existed when DFSMShsm backed up the data set. If you specify the NEWNAME parameter, supply the master password of the base cluster for the new name data set.
