Learn more about what’s new and changed in Maximo Mobile 8.9.

Navigation

  • When technicians complete the final task in the task list, the Report work page opens automatically. This behavior is controlled by the maximo.mobile.gotoreportwork system property.
  • When technicians tap Start work, the Work order details page opens automatically, but tapping Stop travel no longer opens another page.

Usability

  • To prevent errors, the work order number is displayed when a technician edits a work order.
  • Technicians can now specify a name and add a description when they add attachments to a work order.
  • The icons for Start work, Start travel, and Start travel with timer are now visually different so that technicians can easily distinguish them on a small mobile screen.

Data

  • When a work order specifies both an asset and a location, the Asset and location history page displays any closed and completed work orders for the asset and the location.
  • The list of related records now shows the status and type of record, such as work order or service request.
  • The asset or location of a task is now displayed when the parent work order has a different asset or location.
  • When mobile users are offline, requests are processed on the device by using data that was retrieved during online operations. When connectivity is restored, local data is automatically synchronized. For more information, see Maximo Mobile authentication and data flow.
  • You can create a preloaded database that contains all supporting data to save mobile application users time when they are onboarding. For more information, see Preloaded data on mobile devices.

Approvals

  • You can require a physical signature when a user approves work. Specify one or more work order statuses for the maximo.mobile.statusforphysicalsignature system property.

Maps

  • Technicians can now select a building from the map, then review individual floor plans to see the position of their work orders in the building. Indoor maps are available only to Maximo Spatial customers. For more information, see Indoor maps.

Assets

  • Technicians can go to the Assets function in the Maximo Mobile app or on desktop go to Work Orders > Role Based Applications > Asset Manager to see the details of all their assets, including their specifications and associated meters.

Defects

  • In the Defects function, customers who have Maximo Civil Infrastructure can now view confidence scores to suggest how close the detected anomalies are to a defect. You can also select one or more anomalies and use the new menu with options such as change the category, show, hide, and delete the anomalies.

Inspection forms

  • Inspection supervisors can now review an inspection and update it before the inspection is completed. Use the mxe.mobile.inspection.features.enablereview system property to set a review status between the In progress and Complete statuses.
  • Inspection supervisors can now see whether a field was hidden or visible when an inspector completed an inspection form.

Inspections

  • Inspectors can group inspections to report them as a batch and can open and preview an inspection without starting it.
  • Inspectors can search for questions or groups of questions and jump to that part of the inspection form.

Service Requests

  • Users who create service requests can now search through a hierarchy to find the correct location, capture their GPS location on the service request, and can add service address information.
