Device requirements for Maximo Mobile

Device requirements include the operating system level, memory and storage, biometric authentication, and device sharing requirements.

To run Maximo® Mobile, a device must meet the following system requirements:

  • Android version 11 or higher, iOS version 14.3 or higher, or Windows 10 version 10.0.17763.0 or better, or Windows 11 operating system installed.

Ensure that your devices and systems are updated with the latest operating system to make sure that you can continue to access the app store.

  • If the device is shared between users, the shared device is managed by the device operating system. Each user must have their own workspace and user profile. On iOS devices, to support device sharing, a mobile device management (MDM) solution must be installed on the device. In addition, PIN and biometrics must be available for authentication on the device.
  • Windows devices must include the WebView2 Runtime.
  • Android devices must support ARCore if you intend to support the Assist application. For more information about ARCore support, see ARCore Supported devices.
  • Minimum memory required is 3 GB.
Note: Long inspection forms or maps with a large amount of records being displayed at once might require more memory and processing power.
  • Local storage varies based on the data volume expected to be downloaded from the server.

Ensure that you have the latest version of Maximo Mobile applications available from public mobile app stores or, if you are using Windows, from the IBM® portal.

Maximo Mobile includes limited support for FIPS 140-2 Validation for Android and iOS platforms. The iOS platform relies on Apple's FIPS certification, which is enabled on mobile devices by default. For the Android platform, FIPS validation is enabled by using BoringSSL with FIPS validation enforced. Any Android devices that are certificated with FIPS 140-2 can claim FIPS validation support. Maximo Mobile supports the TLS 1.3 protocol for the TLS layer. To secure and enforce FIPS compliance, the server or backend API must be configured with TLS 1.3.
Tip: Hard cases, ice bags, screen protectors are recommended. Stylus, rubber pens or even touchscreen-sensitive gloves are recommended for technicians, so that the mobile device can capture taps properly without impacting productivity.
