Applying asset templates to existing assets

To specify standard asset information for multiple existing asset records, you apply an asset template to the assets. Use the Apply to Existing Assets window in the Asset Templates (Tr) application.

About this task

Data that you specify on the Apply to Existing Assets window and data that is on the Asset Template tab overwrites existing data on the asset records. Take care not to specify asset template data that overwrites "good" asset data when you apply the template.

Procedure

  1. In the Asset Templates (Tr) application, display the asset template that you want to apply to existing asset records.
  2. From the Select Action menu, select Apply to Existing Assets.
  3. On the Select Site window, specify a site and click OK.
  4. On the Apply to Existing Assets window, use the Default Asset Table Data section to provide default values for rows that you add to the Assets list.
  5. Specify the assets that you want to apply the asset template to.
  6. If the template has a date-based depreciation schedule, you must specify a depreciation start date.
  7. Review the data in the Assets list and add or edit information for the individual asset rows as needed.
  8. Click OK to apply the asset template to the assets in the list.
