Permit plans

A permit plan specifies the tasks that are required to complete permit work. For each task, you can estimate the required labor, craft, materials, services, and tools. You use the permit plan to track tasks while the permit is in progress and to inspect tasks when they are complete.

You can extend the scope of the permit plan by adding child permits and work orders. The resulting permit hierarchy facilitates navigation between and management of records that are part of the same work process.

Job plans

You can create a permit plan on the Plans tab or you can add predefined plan data by applying an existing job plan. You can apply only approved job plans with a template type of Permit to permit records.

When you apply an existing job plan, all of the task and plan data is copied from the job plan to the permit. Unless the scope of the permit is locked, you can modify predefined plan data to suit the permit. Changes that you make in the permit record do not affect the original job plan.

If the scope of the permit is locked, you cannot modify scope-related task fields without temporarily unlocking the scope. The following task fields are scope-related: Task, Sequence, and Task Description.

Task inspections

You use the Inspections tab to specify permit tasks that require inspection and to record the inspection results. The results indicate when the inspection took place, who was responsible, and whether the result of the inspection was satisfactory.
