Blocking work orders

You block work orders to prevent maintenance users from signing onto the clearance. You use this action to interrupt work that is taking place under clearance protection, such as when a clearance revision involves significant changes to the clearance boundary. Note that when a work order is released from a clearance, the work order is automatically blocked.

About this task

When a work order is blocked, maintenance users can sign off from the associated clearance, but no resources can sign onto it. You can also remove work order blocks to allow maintenance users to sign onto the clearance again.

The Related Work Orders table on the Related Records tab of the clearance includes a flag to indicate whether work orders are blocked or not. The Related Work Orders table also displays who blocked or unblocked a work order, the date when a work order was blocked, and any relevant comments.

Procedure

  1. In the Clearances (Nuc) application, display the clearance for which you are blocking work orders.
  2. From the More Actions menu, select Block/Unblock Work Orders.
  3. In the Block/Unblock Work Orders window, select the work orders that you want to block.
  4. Click OK.
If no users are signed onto the selected work orders, the work orders are blocked, the Blocked check box is selected in the Related Work Orders table, and no resources can sign onto the work orders.
  5. If there are users who are signed onto the selected work orders, the Block Work Response window displays. Click Yes to confirm the work orders that you want to block, or click No to cancel blocking.
