Data aggregation for IoT platforms

If your IoT platform supports data aggregation, you can specify the type of aggregated data that you want to map to an asset or location meter.

When you configure endpoints for your platform integration, you can configure an endpoint to request sample aggregate results for a device type. The request returns a list of property names for the types of aggregation that the platform supports for the device type. In the Group Level for Data Aggregation field, you can also configure the endpoint to return the properties that the IoT platform uses to group aggregate results.

When you map data from your IoT platform to an asset or location meter on the Map Data Schemas page of the IoT Connector wizard, you can select the Aggregated option for your data collection method. Then you can select one of the following aggregation methods:
  • Enter an aggregation property manually.
  • Detect aggregation properties from a device type schema that you retrieved from a connected device and then select the appropriate property for your mapping.

If you choose to retrieve properties from a connected device, the aggregation properties that were returned in the sample are displayed the drop-down list in the Value field. You can select the type of aggregation to use for the asset or location meter.

The results that are returned for the Group Level for Data Aggregation field in the endpoint are displayed as values in the Time Period field. You can select the time period for aggregating data for asset and location meters.
