Create a selector rule
A selector rule tells Output Manager what to capture from the JES spool.
Procedure
- From the Output Manager main menu, choose option A, Administrative Functions, and press Enter. The Administrative Functions menu is displayed.
- Choose option S, Selector Rules, and press Enter.
-
Specify search criteria, or leave the fields blank, and press Enter.
The resulting list is filtered by your search criteria.
-
Type ADD on the command line and press Enter.
The Selector Rule detail panel for a specific selector is displayed.
- In the Selector name field, type a name for the selector rule. For example, MY SELECTOR. This name can be up to 16 characters long and is required.
- From the Link drop-down menu, select option 1, Choose an archive attribute. Leave the fields in the Search for Archive Attributes panel blank and then press Enter.
-
In the Archive Attribute Selection window, type
S(Select) next to the name of the archive attribute that you created in the previous task (if you used the example name, MY ARCHIVE ATTR), and press Enter. -
In the Status field, type
Enabledto make this selector rule available for use. - In the Job Type field of the Selector Rule panel, type BATCH.
- In the Sysout Class field, type the output class for which to process output. If you're going to use the sample batch job as a test, type XN. (Look at BJT@JCBP in SAMPLIB to get the MSGCLASS from the job card. For example, if it is 'X' type XN. X is the MSGCLASS of the jobcard, and N is in the SYSUT2 line. If you changed these values, use your unique sysout class values. For example, if you changed MSGCLASS to 5 and SYSUT2 to 6, you would type 56.)
- In the JES Queue field, type ALL.
-
Type a slash (/) in the Advanced Selection criteria field and press Enter.
Specify the following advanced selection criteria on this panel:
-
In the Job Name field, type the job name to be captured. If you're going to use the sample batch job as a test, type
BJT@JCBP. (This value is the job name that is specified in the JCL in the SBJTSAMP member BJT@JCBP. If you had to change the job name, use your updated name.) Normally, you would specify the name of the job at your site that generates the report SYSOUT that you want to capture. - In the User ID field, type your user ID. This will prevent you from picking up anyone else's SYSOUT while running this test.
-
In the Job Name field, type the job name to be captured. If you're going to use the sample batch job as a test, type
- Press F3 to return to the Selector Rule panel.
- In the other fields, accept the default settings. To learn about these fields, press F1 for online Help.
- Type SAVE on the command line and press Enter to save your selector rule.
- Press F3 (Exit).
- Type ACT on the Selector Rules command line and press Enter to activate the selector rule.
