Managing nodes

Manage nodes in your system by adding new nodes, removing existing nodes, configuring nodes using different provisioning templates, reinstalling nodes, replacing nodes, tagging nodes, and synchronizing changes across nodes.

The single point of control for your Platform Cluster Manager Community Edition system is the management node. A typical Platform Cluster Manager Community Edition cluster is created from a single management node and many compute nodes. Normally, compute nodes are identical to each other with a few exceptions (for example, a unique node name or node-specific configuration files).

You can add compute nodes to your system in two ways: using the node discovery method or importing a node information file. The node discovery method automatically detects nodes after they are PXE booted. A node information file predefines the nodes to be added to your cluster. Using a node information file provides more control over the physical location of nodes. When you add a node to a system, you must choose a provisioning template or specify the image profile, network profile, and hardware profile.
