What's new in IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps 4.7.1

IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps leverages AI to streamline IT operations, increase uptime, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. The solution supports Operations teams to deliver optimum performance and assurance by:

With Version 4.7.1, IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps delivers improved capabilities and new features for role-based access control, deploying on Linux, and more.

Overall, the following new features and changes are introduced with this IBM Cloud Pak version:

Install and upgrade

Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform 4.17 support Support is added for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.17 for new or upgraded deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps. Learn more

Upgrade (IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux) Upgrade of deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux is now supported from v4.7.0. Learn more

Incremental adoption (IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux) Incremental adoption was previously only supported for deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. It is now also supported for deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps on Linux. You can choose to deploy a base deployment of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps that has a smaller footprint and does not have log anomaly or ticket analysis capabilities. The option to deploy an extended deployment of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps with these capabilities remains. Learn more

Access Control

  • Role Based Access Control (RBAC): As an administrator, you can define redaction policies and restriction filters for hiding specific data for alerts, incidents, applications, resource groups, and resources in a unified way based on available properties, including custom ones. The policies and filters can be assigned to a profile that can then be applied to one or more user groups. This level of access control is an addition to the use of roles and permissions for accessing features.

    By using these profiles, policies, and filters, you can determine the specific data that your users can and cannot view. With this finer level of access control you can better manage data privacy to meet your business needs. Learn more.

AI model management

  • Log Anomaly Golden Signals - Graph view update: The Graph view which is displayed by default is updated so that baseline data is omitted where the value on the graph is zero.

Automating processes (Policies, Runbooks, Actions)

  • Associate automations to incident level rather than alert level: After opening the overview page for an incident from the incident table, you can go to the Associated automations tab to see an aggregate of automations associated with alerts within the incident. For a given automation, you can go to page for the associated policy, alert, and to run the the automation. Also the overview page for an incident displays the top three probable alerts for an incident. Runbooks associated with those alerts are visible in a table below the topology for the selected alert.

Non-production (tech preview)

IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps includes the following components and features for non-production use as a technology preview:

  • Visualizing analytics with IBM Cognos Analytics: This integration provides you with additional tools to create custom dashboards and reports to visualize and analyze your IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps data. When you set up this integration, you can open IBM Cognos Analytics from the Cloud Pak for AIOps console and begin using IBM Cognos Analytics dashboards to build visualizations of your IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps data, such as alert and topology data.

    The supported capabilities for this integration are improved since version 4.7.0:

    • You can integrate with IBM Db2 to store alert and incident data in the Db2 database. With this integration, you can create policies to send the alert or incident data from IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps to populate a dashboard or report in IBM Cognos® Analytics.

    • An Incident list widget and Button widget are available for use in building a custom dashboard. For more information about the available widgets that you can use, see IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps widgets within IBM Cognos Analytics.

    • Example dashboards are now available to help you learn about the capabiltities of the available widgets and to help you create your own dashboard. For more information about creating a dashboard, see Creating a dashboard.
  • Incident (Story) prioritization from persistence analysis and golden signals extraction

  • Deploy to single ROSA cluster configured across multiple AWS Zones

  • Multi-zone high availability and disaster recovery (HADR)

  • New data collection functionality for Dynatrace integration

  • The steps for supporting Terraform runner in an air-gapped (offline) environment are simplified.
