Migrating from Socket Probe to Socket Java Probe

The Socket Java Probe replaces the Socket Probe.

This chapter contains guidance on how to migrate from the Socket Probe to the Socket Java Probe. The migration procedure has the following stages:

  1. Review the differences between probes and identify any gaps in terms of functionality, properties, elements and rules file.
  2. Install the new probe.
  3. Migrate the properties file.
  4. Customize the rules file.
  5. Run and test the new probe.
  6. Optimize property values and the rules file.
Note: Where possible, carry out the migration in a test environment or a simulation of the production environment so that the work does not interfere with the production environment. Change over to using the Socket Java Probe in production once you are sure that it behaves in the same way as the Socket Probe.
