Managing Promising rules

Create Promising rules to improve estimated delivery date calculations for orders that meet a specific criteria.

About this task

When you create a rule, you are configuring the system to consider using a subset of nodes to fulfill certain orders.

For example, consider a scenario where you want to restrict high dollar value orders to be fulfilled by distribution centers so that you keep other nodes available for low dollar value orders. You can create a rule such that when an order is over $10,000, then those nodes that are assigned the node type "DC" and have enough on-hand inventory are considered for fulfillment. Then, when a shopper adds more than $10,000 to the cart, the system evaluates the rule and filters the nodes that can fulfill the order. The filtered nodes are then used to calculate the estimated delivery date for the order.

You can create, or edit the Promising rules.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. From the menu, click Promise and fulfill > Sourcing and scheduling > Promising and transfer rules.
  3. To create a Promising rule, go to the Promising rules section and complete the following steps. If rules exist and you want to create a copy, access the Action options menu next to a rule and select Copy rule.
    1. To create a new rule, click Create Promising rule.
      Rule name
Specify a name to identify the purpose of the rule.
      Rule description (optional)
Specify a description for the rule.
      Conditions
Add conditions to determine the orders that are subject to this rule. For more information, see Promising rules.
      Node restrictions
Specify the nodes, node type, or distribution groups that you want the system to consider for fulfilling the order. The restrictions can be equal or not equal to the entered values.
      Carrier service restrictions
Specify the carrier service you want the system to consider for fulfilling the order. The restrictions can be equal or not equal to the entered values.
      Schedule
Specify the periods when to apply the rule. If you want the schedule to always apply, select Unrestricted.
The system follows the schedule when the Status is set to Active.
      Rule
Determines whether to activate the rule. By default, this toggle is set to On.
    2. To use the rule during estimated delivery date calculations, activate the rule by toggling the Rule option.
If the rule is inactive, it means the rule is disabled, and the application does not use this rule during the estimated delivery date calculations.
  4. Optional: To edit a Promising rule, click the overflow menu next to the rule and then click Edit.
  5. Optional: To delete a Promising rule, click the overflow menu next to the rule and then click Delete.
