What's new in IBM Z OMEGAMON Web UI
OMEGAMON Web UI 2.1.0 is available as a component in IBM® Tivoli® Management Services on z/OS 6.4. The 2.1.0 version introduces several enhancements that improve modularity, security, and deployment.
OMEGAMON Web UI represents the next evolution of the OMEGAMON user experience. It brings together the power of OMEGAMON Data Requester within Grafana and a browser-based interface, enabling administrators to edit situations and take immediate action, all from an intuitive web environment.
- Modular component architecture
-
The modular design includes the following key components:
- OMEGAMON Gateway, which is the communication hub.
- Admin User Interface (UI) for managing TEMS connections, including both z/OS Hub TEMS for dashboards and Situation editor and z/OS RTEMS for dashboards.
- OMEGAMON Data Requester for both real-time and near-term data analysis.
- OMEGAMON Dashboards, which offer customizable and interactive visualizations.
- Security and OIDC Single Sign-On (SSO) support
-
Security has been enhanced with support for OpenID Connect (OIDC) Single Sign-On (SSO). OMEGAMON Web UI can now integrate with identity providers such as Keycloak and other standard OIDC-compliant tools. You can configure security, authentication, authorization, and logging through OMEGAMON Gateway environment variables.
- Integrated Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
-
You can define access policies either through your organization’s directory or by using file-based configurations. This feature helps protect sensitive information by restricting access to dashboards and Situations based on user roles.
- Container-based deployment
-
- You can install it on Linux (amd64) or z/Linux (s390x) platforms using either Docker or Podman.
- OMEGAMON Gateway and OMEGAMON Data Requester are deployed separately for scalability.
- Cross-product dashboard linking and navigation
-
Enhanced cross-product dashboard linking and navigation. Users can drill down from the Enterprise Overview to other OMEGAMON agent dashboards. Built-in dashboard tags and data links help organize, filter, and navigate dashboards more efficiently.
- Situations and automated responses
-
The Admin UI allows you to define Situations that monitor critical conditions. You can also configure automated actions that respond when thresholds are met, enabling proactive system management.
- Take Action
-
The Take Action feature in OMEGAMON Web UI enables users to execute predefined commands directly from Grafana dashboards. This functionality enhances interactivity and supports rapid response to system events. Users can initiate actions manually from the dashboards or configure situations to trigger actions automatically when specific conditions are met.
