Installing InfoSphere Optim Data Tools Runtime Client on Linux, UNIX, and Windows clients by using the installation wizard or the console mode

The InfoSphere® Optim™ Data Tools Runtime Client product media provides an installation wizard and a configuration wizard to install and configure the Extended Insight client software on each database application client computer. If you want to install and configure the client software on a computer that does not have a graphical user interface, you can do so by using the console mode.

Before you begin

About this task

InfoSphere Optim Data Tools Runtime Client can install and configure the client software for multiple IBM® products . You can install and configure only the database client software for which you have a product license. If you use InfoSphere Optim Data Tools Runtime Client to install the client software of multiple products, the products can share the common client components when you install them in the same directory.

Procedure

To install and configure Data Tools Runtime Client by using the installation wizard or the console mode:

  1. Run the installation program on your database application client computer.

    In a WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment environment, you install the Data Tools Runtime Client client software on the deployment manager computer.

    Use one of the following commands:

    Operating system Command
    Linux and UNIX 
    IBM.DTRC.version.install-on-platform.bin

    You can append -i console to the command to run the installation program in console mode.
    Windows 
    IBM_DTRC.version.install-on-platform.exe

    You can append -i console to the command to run the installation program in console mode.
    The installation wizard or console starts.
  2. Complete the steps of the installation wizard or console.

Results

InfoSphere Optim Data Tools Runtime Client is now installed.
