Enabling databases for mining

With the Warehouse tools Common section of the Administration Console, you can do the following tasks:

• Creating a new database profile for a database to be administrated in the console
• Enabling a database for data mining or for OLAP

Managing mining models and the model cache

Intelligent Miner® models are stored in DB2® database tables. You can use the administration console to perform the following tasks:

• Displaying and visualizing models by using Intelligent Miner Visualization
• Importing models from the file system into the database
• Exporting models from the database to the file system
• Improve the scoring performance by caching mining models in the database server main memory. You can do the following tasks:
  • Monitoring the cache
  • Loading models into the cache
  • Removing models from the cache

Managing SQL warehouse applications

You can use the Administration Console to deploy, run, or monitor data warehouse applications. These data warehouse applications contain specific executable processes. You can also use the Administration Console to study deployment histories, execution statistics, or log files.

An application includes one or more processes that you have assembled into a package for deployment. These processes might consist of a set of control flows that build or modify a data warehouse according to a fixed or on-demand schedule. Alternatively, an application might contain a single mining flow inside a single control flow that automates a repeating data mining task.

An individual process in the runtime environment is equivalent to a control flow in the design-time environment. When you schedule or start a process, you are running all of the activities within a particular control flow, including its data flows and mining flows. To run mining flows independently for test purposes, use the mining editor in the Design Studio.
