The IBM® OpenAdmin
Tool (OAT) for Informix® is
a web application for administering and analyzing the performance
of IBM Informix database
servers. You can administer multiple database server instances from
a single OAT installation
on a web server. You can access the web server through any browser
to administer all your database servers.
You can use
OAT to
monitor and analyze the performance of a database server:
- Monitor the state of a database server with detailed status reports,
alert information, and message logs.
- Analyze the state of a database server and email results and recommendations
by using the IBM Informix Health Advisor Plug-in
for OpenAdmin Tool (OAT).
- Monitor performance statistics over time with detailed charts
of the performance history.
- Monitor data gathered by the Scheduler, which runs administrative
tasks and collects information by using SQL statements.
- Run system validation checks on databases and tables on a database
server.
- Run system reports and onstat commands.
- Drill down on SQL statements to review the performance details
and optimize SQL statements.
You can use
OAT to
perform these administrative tasks:
- Manage the database server including the configuration, user privileges,
and virtual processors.
- Create and monitor tasks for the Scheduler.
- Manage the Auto Update Statistics (AUS) maintenance system, which
automatically updates statistics to optimize query performance.
- Manage database and table objects by using the IBM Informix Schema Manager Plug-in
for OpenAdmin Tool (OAT).
- Manage storage space and manage recovery logs for the database
server.
- Optimize space by compressing and defragmenting
tables.
- Back up the storage spaces for a database server.
- Run SQL statements and perform standard SQL operations on tables.
- Monitor and administer high availability clusters.
- Monitor and administer Enterprise Replication by using the IBM Informix Replication Plug-in
for OpenAdmin Tool (OAT).
- Monitor and administer database objects related to a time series,
including tables, indexes, and virtual tables, and TimeSeries subtypes,
containers, and calendars by using the IBM Informix TimeSeries Plug-in
for OpenAdmin Tool (OAT).
You can install the IBM OpenAdmin
Tool (OAT) for Informix when
you install the IBM Informix Client Software Development
Kit (Client SDK) or
when you install the IBM Informix software
bundle and select Client SDK or IBM Informix Connect. This
installation program includes OAT, the Health Advisor plug-in, Replication plug-in, Schema Manager plug-in, and TimeSeries plug-in, and
all necessary software to run OAT, including pre-configured Apache,
PHP, and PDO_informix.
Alternatively, the OpenAdmin Tool Community
Edition is available from the IBM Informix Free
Product Download page: https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=swg-informixfpd
