How do I create basic events?

Use this procedure to create an event by using basic mode.

Before you begin

If you want the Event you are creating to publish Event data to UBX, you need to configure the Event as a "UBX event" by setting the Category and Event type.

To publish Event data to UBX, make sure your administrator has registered Tealeaf on Cloud as an endpoint in UBX, and that the UBX integration settings for your organization are set on the Company Settings page.

Procedure

  1. In the Event manager, click New.
  2. Select Event.
  3. Add the following information for the event:
    1. Enter the event name.
    2. Add tags.
    3. Enter a description of your event.
    4. Select the trigger for your event.
    5. Choose the frequency for your event.
    6. Choose the Published at time for your event.
    7. Choose Basic as the Mode.
  4. Add conditions.
    1. Add a new hit, session, or step attribute:
      1. Click Conditions.
      2. Click Hit Attribute, Session Attribute, or Step Attribute from the left navigation.
      3. Click Create new hit attribute, Create new session attribute, or Create new step attribute.
      4. Fill out the form and click Save.
      5. Click Select to add the attribute to your Event.
    2. Add events, hit attributes, step attributes, or session attributes as conditions:
      1. Click Conditions.
      2. Select a condition (Event, Hit Attribute, Step Attribute, or Session Attribute) from the left side panel.
      3. Select an item from the Results window.
      4. Check the Select Multiple check box and set the condition type if you want to add more than one condition at a time.

A check box is added to the items in the Results window, allowing you to select multiple conditions.

      5. Select the check boxes for the conditions that you want to add.
      6. Click Select to add the condition(s) to your Event.
  5. Select your Reference value and choose how to treat it.
  6. Choose how you want to store metrics.
  7. Choose how you want to track metrics.
  8. Specify whether the Event is a building block only Event.
  9. Specify whether you want to discard sessions based on user-defined Event criteria.
If you select Discard sessions, any session that meets user-defined event criteria is not written to session list.

For example, if you check Discard sessions and specified that you don't want sessions with only one screen view event to be included in the search, Discard sessions implements the following logic:

If [Event: Screenview Count] is <= 1, Discard Session
  10. Optional: Configure the Event to be a UBX event.

The UBX-supported categories and event types for Acoustic Experience Analytics (Tealeaf) are listed in the Category and Event drop-down lists, and can also be found in UBX, in the UBX Dynamic Event Library.

The UBX Dynamic Event Library is an interactive guide of the Event types that are recognized by UBX, and the publishers and subscribers that support the Events.

The Acoustic Experience Analytics (Tealeaf) Events (grouped by category) and the prerequisite attributes adhere to the UBX taxonomy. For information about UBX events and the Dynamic Event Library, see the IBM Universal Business Exchange (UBX) knowledge center.

When you configure an Event to be a UBX event, and the defined conditions for the Event are met:
    • Tealeaf publishes data from the Event to UBX.
    • UBX processes the data that is generated from the UBX event configuration only, and ignores everything else.
    • Tealeaf processes the Event normally based on the conditions and parameters outside of the UBX parameters.
    1. Select a Category.
    2. Specify an Event.

When you select a category, the events associated with the category are listed in the Event drop-down list.

    3. Set the attributes for the UBX Event.
  11. Add any dimensions groups.
  12. Optional: Select On to enable Geo analytics for the dimension groups that are associated with this event.
  13. Click Save.
