Transitioning from Sterling Store Engagement (legacy)

Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) is built on the most recent UI technology, which is Angular framework. The next-generation application supports a host of new features that are not available in the legacy Sterling Store Engagement application, which is built on Dojo and AngularJS frameworks.

The transition topics provides guidance for system implementors that are responsible for transition of the existing Sterling Store Engagement (legacy) application to the Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) application. The Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) application is available on cloud and on-premises solutions. To start the transition process, contact IBM Support.

Important:
Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) deployment timelines

  • Development and quality assurance

    If you are using Sterling Store Engagement (legacy), raise a ticket with IBM Support to deploy Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) in your development and QA environments. When the deployment is complete, you have four months to develop and validate your customizations.

  • Preproduction environment

    After you develop and verify your customizations, raise a ticket with IBM Support to deploy Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) in your preproduction environment. You have six weeks to do the user acceptance and load testing before you move to production.

  • Production environment

    Raise a ticket with IBM Support to deploy Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) in your production environment and begin the transition. You have up to six weeks to stabilize operations in production. Ensure that Sterling Store Engagement (legacy) and Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) do not coexist in preproduction or production environments for longer than the allowed six-week period. After this transition window, only Sterling Store Engagement (next-generation) will remain active. The legacy version is discontinued and is no longer accessible in preproduction or production.
