Configuring single-location stores

You can configure a store as a single-location store if it is not be large enough to configure multiple locations or if you do not want to maintain multiple locations.

You can define a store as single location if you do not want to track inventory at an internal location level inside the store. You will still be able to track inventory and inventory attributes, but it will be tracked in a single out-of-the-box location only.

When a store is configured to have the location configuration as SINGLE, the system creates three locations for the store:
  • DEFAULT-LOCATION - The location where all the inventory is tracked.
  • PICK-VIRTUAL- The location that the system requires to track the inventory that is being picked.
  • STAGING-VIRTUAL - A virtual location where system moves the inventory that is picked and kept aside for customer pick up or to be packed for shipping.

By default, stores are configured as multi-location stores.

To configure a store as a single-location store, you must call the stores API. For more information about using the stores API, see Completing common configurations.

You must complete this configuration before you can proceed to perform other configurations for the various flows in Sterling Store Engagement.
