Configuring alert thresholds for nodes

You can configure rules in Order Hub to display alerts when it identifies any risks that are related to the performance of a node, based on the thresholds that you define. This topic describes the procedure to configure node thresholds.

Note: Node alerts is deprecated.

About this task

Order Hub displays alerts in your workspaces and the Alerts tab of the Nodes page based on the node thresholds that you configure. The threshold percentages and time frames can be defined for fill and SLA rates, ship and store pickup utilization rates, and over capacity. If the percentage of any of the defined metrics falls below the specified measure, alerts of the specified severity are displayed in your workspace. For over capacity, the alerts are displayed if the percentage exceeds the specified measure.

Alerts are refreshed every 15 minutes on Production environments and every 4 hours on other environments (such as QA).

Important: A node can be a part of only one threshold configuration.

Use the following procedure to configure the node threshold rules to specify when alerts must be displayed.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Order Hub using your IBMid.
  2. In the Order Hub navigation ribbon, select Settings > Thresholds.
    The Alert threshold page opens.
  3. Select the Nodes tab and click Create.
  4. In the Threshold group name field, enter an appropriate name for the node threshold group.
  5. Click Select under Nodes to which these thresholds apply. The Select nodes window displays the list of nodes for which you can define thresholds. Nodes that are included in other node threshold groups are hidden from this list. However, a count of nodes that already belong to other node threshold groups is displayed. You can view these nodes by clicking Show nodes.
  6. From the list of nodes that are displayed, select the nodes for which you want to define the threshold percentages. Click Next.
  7. Review the list of nodes that are displayed and click Save.
  8. Under Node thresholds, you can specify the following metrics for which you can define threshold percentages:
    1. Fill rate. The percentage of orders that are fulfilled by the node compared to the total orders handled by the node.
    2. SLA rate. The percentage of orders that are fulfilled on time as stated in the SLA as compared to the total number of shipments handled by the node.
    3. Over capacity Over capacity occurs when the sum of pending orders from the previous day and the orders sent to the node on the current day exceeds the total capacity of the node for the day.
    4. Ship from store utilization rate. The percentage of orders that are sent to the node for fulfillment as compared to the ship from store capacity set for the node.
    5. Pickup in store utilization rate. The percentage of orders that are sent to the node for fulfillment as compared to the store pickup capacity set for the node.
Note: The unit of measure used to calculate these metrics depends on the capacity UOM of the node and can be either units or releases.
  9. From the Alert level list, select the level of severity of the alert, namely high or medium.
Note: If you leave the alert level as None, then the specific threshold is not considered while triggering alerts.
  10. Select the threshold percentage in the Measure field. For all metrics, except over capacity, the measure is the minimum percentage that the particular metric can be before alerts are issued. For over capacity, the measure is the maximum percentage of capacity that the node can take before an alert is issued.
  11. In the Time frame field, enter the number of days for which the data is to be taken to calculate the metrics percentages.
  12. Click Save.

Results

The Alert thresholds page displays the threshold group that you created.

You can edit or delete the thresholds definitions from the Alert threshold page.

You can also edit the threshold settings by clicking the Action icon Action icon in the Alerts widget on your workspace and selecting Edit threshold settings.

Important: Any changes that you make to a specific threshold group applies to all users in the network.
