The z/OS Resource Measurement Facility (RMF)

The z/OS® Resource Measurement Facility collects data and produces reports for activity in a sysplex. Among its other reports, it can use the data provided by z/OS Workload Manager to produce reports by service class and report class.

The z/OS Resource Measurement Facility consists of a number of components. These include three monitor components (Monitor I, Monitor II, and Monitor III), which collect data from the sysplex and produce reports. There is also a Postprocessor component, which you can use to produce reports using SMF data from the three Monitor components and other sources. For more information about all the components of the Resource Measurement Facility, see z/OS Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) User's Guide.

The main RMF report that relates to z/OS Workload Manager is the Workload Activity report (WLMGL). You can produce this report by using the Postprocessor, which processes the SMF records provided by z/OS Workload Manager. For details about how to call the Postprocessor, see z/OS Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) User's Guide.

Depending on the options that you select to produce the Workload Activity report, it can show data for each service class, or if you set up report classes, it can show data for each report class. For details about these options and the content of this report, see z/OS Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) Report Analysis.

Some RMF Monitor III reports also include data that relates to z/OS Workload Manager. For details, see z/OS Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) Report Analysis.
