An event group is a container for inbound
events that enables you to group events without the additional work
of creating a new monitoring context. Event groups are purely a visual
construct and are not represented in the monitor model.
About this task
To define an event group, complete the following steps:
Procedure
- Click the Monitor Details Model tab
of the editor, right-click the monitoring context (or any element
of the monitoring context) in the model tree, and click .
- In the Create New Event Group window,
type a name into the Name field. Select the
initial events to include in the event group. (Inbound events that
are already included in another event group are not shown.) After
you have finished selecting events, click OK.
The event group is added to the monitoring context,
and the form editor opens so that you can define the event group.
- Optional: If this event group was generated
from a Process Server application,
an Application element field shows the display
name of the event source that is linked to this event group. If any
of the elements in the event group were generated from templates,
the templates are shown in the table. Open a template to see the managed
elements. For example, if you open a Start Time template, you see
a Start Time metric and inbound events for each event that can create
a monitoring context. If more than one event source is associated
with this event group, you can select an application element from
the list to see the associated templates and elements.
To remove the association between the event group and
the application, click
Remove.
Important: Removing the association also removes all associations
with application elements from all descendant monitor model elements.
You can then edit the fields that are currently read-only because
they are managed by the application, but you will no longer be able
to synchronize the monitor model with the application.
To add more templates, click Add in
the table and select the templates to add. Associated elements will
be added to the event group if they are events, and to the parent
monitoring context otherwise.
What to do next
In the form editor, you can update the name and description
of the event group, and can add events to the group or remove events
from the group. Events are shown in the list as checked if they are
in the event group and as unchecked if they are not associated with
any group.
