Testing models
After you create a monitor model, you must test it on a running monitor model in the Business Monitor test environment. In the test environment, results of the tests are displayed in a Monitor dashboard space, where you can quickly verify that the metrics are being collected correctly and that your calculations are correct.
The Integrated Test Client is installed as part of the Business Monitor development toolkit installation and is integrated into Integration Designer. You can use this tool to emit sample events for the Business Monitor test environment server and to quickly and conveniently test monitor models that use the Common Event Infrastructure (CEI). With the Integrated Test Client, you can create and send test events without needing a connection to the actual environment that is being monitored.
If you find a problem while testing monitor models that use the Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) (deprecated) or if you just want to understand how a monitor model gathers information, use the debugger that is included with the IBM® Business Monitor development toolkit.
Use of the Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) and Common Base Events (CBE) is deprecated in IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5 and has been replaced with Dynamic Event Framework (DEF).
