Editing process application settings
Each process application and toolkit that is created in the Process Center repository includes settings that you can change while you are working in IBM® Process Designer, such as global settings, environment variables, and server configurations for your process application.
Before you begin
Procedure
To edit process application settings:
- Open the process application in Process Designer. The Process App Settings editor opens. The settings editor is always available from the list in the toolbar, and cannot be closed.
- To edit the general settings, click the Overview tab:
Setting Description Acronym (desktop only) Tip: To change the acronym name if you are using the Process Designer web editor, you must instead open the process application in Process Center and use the Manage page to change the acronym. The acronym for a process application must be unique and is limited to 7 characters. IBM Business Process Manager uses the acronym to identify this process application and the library items that it contains and so it must be a valid JavaScript identifier. When you change the acronym, any existing scripts or other implementations in the process application that rely on the current acronym is broken unless you update them with the new acronym. For this reason, Process Designer displays a warning, requesting confirmation to continue with the change.Important: Do not change the acronyms of system process applications such as Saved Search Admin and IBM Process Portal.Exposed Items A shortcut list of exposed items to allow for quick navigation to important artifacts in your process application. Web services in a process application are always exposed. You must explicitly expose BPDs, case types, and human services. For more information, see Exposing processes or Exposing heritage human services. Theme Set the theme used to style the coach views and controls in the coaches contained in the process application. For information, see Themes.
Coach XSL (desktop only) Coach XSL is where you identify the transform XSL file for heritage coaches. For information, see Specifying an XSL transform override for a heritage coach.
Coach CSS (desktop only) Coach CSS is where you identify the CSS file for heritage coaches. For information, see Specifying a custom CSS for a heritage coach.
Enable process monitoring through IBM Business Monitor Select this option if you want to monitor your process applications with IBM Business Monitor. When this option is selected, and you click File > Update Tracking Definitions in the Process Designer, you can use an IBM Business Monitor model to capture monitoring data. You can use a custom monitor model that is created in IBM Integration Designer, or you can generate a default monitor model when you deploy a snapshot on a production or test process server or when you play back the process on the Process Center server.
XML Settings The Namespace field in the XML Settings pane identifies the namespace of the process application. If you do not enter a specific namespace identifer, the editor automatically populates the Namespace field with a shortened version of the process application name. To avoid potential namespace collisions, the best practice is to keep the provided value or to replace it with a customized value that must be unique among all projects in all the dependent toolkits and process applications.
Changing the Namespace field impacts process applications and external web services that interact with this process application. If you change the namespace, ensure that all process applications and web services that reference this process application are updated accordingly.
Optimize settings for IBM Integration Designer (desktop only) Select this option if this project is being used or is intended to be eventually used in collaboration with IBM Integration Designer.
Process application administrators
(referred to as Portal Admin Team in the desktop Process Designer)By default, members of the tw_admins security group can complete the following administrative actions on process instances in the process application.- Abort Process Instance
- Suspend Process Instance
- Resume Process Instance
- Change instance Due date
- Move token
- Delete Token
Click Select to add or remove users and teams as process application administrators. Or, click New to create a new team that represents the groups of users in your enterprise that can administer process applications. You can add users or teams as members, or define an expression to determine membership.Important: Do not choose System teams as process application administrators. System teams are used in System lanes, for System tasks or services that run automatically without a need for user interaction. - To set environment variables (such as port numbers) for each deployment environment, click the Environment tab. For more information, see Setting environment variables.
- To add server configurations, click the Server tab. For more information, see Adding a server configuration.
- Click Save in the main toolbar.
