Proxy gateway pattern

The proxy gateway provides a generic capability across web service only service providers. This pattern has no dependencies on other products, such as a registry.

Figure 1 shows the relationship between a proxy gateway, proxy group, service provider and virtual service.
  • Virtual service - the exposed endpoint of the proxy gateway for a service provider within the associated proxy group.
  • Proxy gateway - the entity that provides the gateway function for one or more proxy groups.
  • Proxy group - a collection of service providers that are grouped together into a logical set.
