Monthly Data Summary report

The Monthly Data Summary report displays aggregated monthly consumption, energy, emissions, and cost per month, quarter, and year. Data is aggregated irregardless of invoice periods.

About this task

Use the report to see a trends in consumption, energy, emissions, and cost over time. You can also use the report to verify the completeness of values in the actual, accrued, and estimated fields. The report is primarily used to:
  • Perform data reconciliation. Review data values and confirm data availability.
  • Perform data health checks. Review cost and consumption values and fix discrepancies.
  • API integration can be used to use this report in Power BI dashboard.
  • Perform emissions auditing. Spot check or audit your data. To verify emissions calculations, you can review the emission factors that were used. For further detail, you can review emission factors by running the Energy and Emission Factor report and cross-reference by using the Factor Link column.
Note:

To align with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard requirement to exclude offsets and RECs from a GHG inventory, IBM® Envizi ESG Suite captures green power as positive consumption but reports it under a different data type. To aggregate consumption, sum the Total Emissions column, which will then show zero.

Summing the total Scope 2 CO2e(t) column also results in a positive amount, because Envizi ESG Suite does not calculate a Scope 2 emissions amount from RECs, again to align with the GHG Protocol for Location-based Emissions reporting. You can also sum the Total GJ column because the green power component has a zero value, so a positive total energy amount is also correct.

Do not sum the Actual Data, Total Data, or Total Reporting Amount columns because the values are not provided in a context that permits aggregation. For example, you cannot sum kWh of electricity with liters of diesel fuel.

Procedure

  1. From Global search, select Reports, and enter Monthly Data Summary Report.
  2. Select the report from the search results to open the Reports grid.
  3. Specify the group and locations on which to run the report.
  4. Select the data type, for example, Electricity [kWh]. Only accounts that belong to the data type are included.
  5. Click the report in the Reports grid.
  6. Select report options.
    • Select the currency. The field defaults to the reporting currency of the organization. Currency exchange rates that are stored in the Envizi ESG Suite platform are used to convert the local currency to the reporting currency.
    • In Filter By # 1, choose from these options:
      • Exclude Lifecycle Emissions: Exclude scope 3 part of scope 1 (eg. Natural Gas) and scope 2 (eg. Electricity) data types.
      • Include Lifecycle Emissions (where available): Includes scope 3 emissions for scope 1 and scope 2 data types. For example, for electricity, you see both scope 2 and scope 2 CO2 emissions in the report.
    • In Filter By #2, select consolidation: By default, the report uses the consolidation reporting tags.
    • In Filter By #3, select a category.
    • Select the duration of the report.
    • Select the calendar month to end on.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Download the report as a CSV file for offline analysis.
