Configuring Aspera (FileNet® P8 only)

To enable your users to upload, download, and transfer large documents efficiently, configure Aspera for your users. When you configure Aspera, all documents that are added use Aspera.

About this task

Currently, dragging and dropping folders is not supported by the Aspera feature in IBM® Content Navigator.

To configure the Aspera, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Open the administration tool and click Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Aspera Configuration section, select Enable. Then, enter the Aspera server information.
    1. For the Aspera server URL, enter the Aspera Node API URL. The default HTTP port number is 9091. The URL has the format http://server_name:port_number. IBM Content Navigator now supports using an HTTPS URL for Aspera servers that are configured to use SSL. The default HTTPS port number is 9092. The URL has the format https://server_name:port_number.
    2. For the User Name and Password, enter the user name and password for logging in to the Aspera server.
    3. For Aspera file location, enter the file location for storing temporary files on the Aspera server. This is configured as an Absolute Path setting on the Aspera server. If the IBM Content Navigator and Aspera servers are co-located on the same physical machine, enter the file location path directly.

If the IBM Content Navigator and Aspera servers are not co-located on the same physical machine, mount it as a remote file location into the IBM Content Navigator server and enter the mounted path on the IBM Content Navigator server.

This file location works as a shared storage for IBM Content Navigator on the Aspera server. The IBM Content Navigator server should have access to this shared file location.

    4. Click Verify to see whether the Aspera configurations are correct.
  3. Enable Aspera in the desktop configuration.
  4. To enable an icon that indicates the upload state, go to the repository configuration in the administration tool, and then go to the Configuration Parameters section. In the state icons, select Uploading. Save and then close the window.
  5. On the Aspera server, configure an Aspera parameter that is needed for the download.

In the aspera.conf file, modify contents in the <absolute> parameter.

    As an example, change
    C:\Users\asperaweb
    To
    file:///c:/Users/asperaweb?grow=180&wait_start=mtime&confirm_stop=true

For more information, see aspera.conf File System Configuration.
