In a container environment, your data is external to the component container. A backup
for your data is similar to an on-premises installation. You also back up your configuration
information for the environment.
Procedure

Back up your environment.
Containers are stateless, so the data that must be backed up in a container environment is
external to the container. In a container environment all external mounts to the container are the
areas of storage that should be part of a backup set. See the following information for details
about the additional areas of storage that must be backed up:
Creating volumes and folders for deployment.
For the rest of your
environment, the backup requirements are the same as for an on-premises installation.
All
offline and hot backup guidelines are the same for container deployments.

As needed, recover your environment from the backups you created.
Recovery of a container environment is a much easier task because of the separation of the
containers from the application data. Recovery is the same as the processes that are documented for
on-premises environments.
You must also recover the external container mounts for deployed containers as documented in the
following topic: Creating volumes and folders for deployment.
Because this data includes container configuration information, make sure to repopulate the data
in the appropriate mounts before you bring any containers online again.
