Creating custom touchpoints

The Journey Designer storyboard palette provides several different touchpoint types. However, you can create custom touchpoint types for your organization's specific needs.

About this task

All custom touchpoints are available for all storyboards in your account. You can create custom touchpoints even while your storyboard is being edited by other users.

When you create a custom touchpoint, you can specify a URL to an application for that touchpoint type. When the touchpoint is used in a storyboard, you can use the touchpoint to open that application. For example, if you add a custom touchpoint for your company's Facebook page, you can include the link to the page.

Warning:

To avoid security risks, make sure the URL that you specify is valid. Journey Designer does not check whether the URL is valid or whether it is harmful.

Important:

If you create a custom touchpoint without a URL, you cannot later add a URL by editing the touchpoint in the customize palette. When you use the custom touchpoint on a storyboard, you also cannot add a URL on the Details page. If the touchpoint does not have a URL and you click Open on the custom touchpoint menu, an error displays.

You can create up to 10 custom touchpoints in your account. You can use your custom touchpoints in the same way that you use the provided touchpoints.

Note: You cannot delete a custom touchpoint that is used in a storyboard. You must delete the touchpoint from the storyboards first before you can delete the touchpoint type from your palette.
