Value Mapping properties view

With value mappings, you can assign new values to discrete feature values.

You can define a value mapping on the following pages of the properties view:

General
Name
The name for the value mapping must be unique.
Description
Optionally, you can add more information about the value mapping.
Feature Selection
You must select one or more features or slices whose values you want to map.

Select the features or slices to be used from the available features and slices and click the Right arrow.

Mappings
You can map the original values or the combinations of values to new discrete values by using the Value Mapping wizard or by mapping them manually:
Value Mapping wizard
Open the wizard by clicking Open Value Mapping Wizard. The wizard fetches the values that are contained in the database.

To be able to read the data from the database, make sure that your input model is connected to the correct database.

To create a mapping for a value or a value combination, select the check box in the corresponding table row.

To assign discrete values to each of the original values or combinations of values, click into the target value column and type the value to be used.

Manual mapping definition
To add a new mapping to the table:
  1. Click Add a Mapping.
  2. Double-click the value and the target cells and type the values and the target values to be used.

The mappings table contains a default mapping. It applies to all values in your data that are not included in the mapping table.

Result Column
You must define a name for the result column in the output table. The name must be a valid Db2® column name. Its default is derived from the name of the value mapping.

If you rename a value mapping, the result column name is also changed. If you change the result column name in the Value Mapping properties, the name of the value mapping is not changed.

You can override the default data type of the result columns. The drop-down list shows the available data types.
