Internet preferences

By setting the Packaging Utility internet preferences, you can use proxy servers to create connections to remote servers from behind a firewall. After the proxy server is specified, the proxy server is used for all server communications.

SSL/TLS

In Packaging Utility, go to File > Preferences > Internet. Select the Nonsecure SSL Mode option to accept a certificate when an SSL connection is made.
Important: Accepted certificates might include invalid or untrusted certificates. Use nonsecure SSL mode only if you trust all the servers that Packaging Utility accesses.
When Nonsecure SSL Mode is selected, the Session option is checked by default. When the Session option is checked, the Nonsecure SSL Mode is enabled only for this session of Packaging Utility. Nonsecure SSL Mode is not enabled when Packaging Utility is started again. When the Permanent option is selected, Nonsecure SSL Mode remains enabled the next time that you start Packaging Utility.

Credentials

In Packaging Utility, click File > Preferences > Internet > Credentials. Click Clear Credentials to delete stored credentials from secure sites.

Proxy Settings

In Packaging Utility, go to File > Preferences > Internet > Proxy Settings.
  • Enable HTTP Proxy: Use this option to create an HTTP or SOCKS proxy.
    • HTTP proxy: For an HTTP proxy server, do not check the option Use a SOCKS Proxy. You must enter values for the Proxy Server and Proxy Port fields. The proxy port value must be 0 - 65535.
    • SOCKS proxy: Check the option Use a SOCKS Proxy. You must enter values for the SOCKS Host and SOCKS Port fields. The SOCKS port value must be 0 - 65535.

  • Enable FTP SOCKS Proxy: Use this option to create an FTP SOCKS proxy. You must enter values for the SOCKS Host and SOCKS Port fields. The SOCKS port value must be 0 - 65535.

You might see the message Invalid Proxy Server Host. The message opens when the Proxy Server field or either SOCKS Host fields are empty. The Proxy Port field or either SOCKS Port field must have a value. When you delete the value from the Proxy Port field or either SOCKS Port field, the message Port range is [0,65535] opens. Enter the value 0 when you do not want to specify a port number.
