Deprovisioning components of the System Monitoring shared service

You can deprovision the components of the System Monitoring shared service to release system resources, or when you do not want to use the monitoring service.

Procedure

  1. Click Patterns > Shared Services Instances. If you are on 2.3.3.3 or later, click Patterns > Manage > Shared Service Instances. The Shared Service Instances page displays the list of shared services, grouped by shared service type. The list is displayed in a table format, providing some basic details about each shared service.
    The following functions are available for you to work with the list of shared service instances:
    Refresh
    Refreshes the status of the shared service instances and updates the fields on the Shared Service Instances page.
    Create New
    Click Create New to create a new shared service instance.
    Filter
    Enter a term that is used to filter the shared service instances that display on the page.
  2. Select the instance of the System Monitoring shared service to deprovision.

  3. Click the Stop icon.
    You are prompted to confirm the operation.
  4. Click Yes.
    All the components of the System Monitoring shared service that are listed in the Virtual machine perspective panel are stopped. The VM Status of each component is changed from Running to Terminated.
  5. Click Delete.
    You are prompted to confirm the operation.
  6. Click Yes.
    All of the components of the System Monitoring shared service are deprovisioned.

Results

All the components of the System Monitoring shared service are deprovisioned and the resources used by them are released. The OS agents that connected to the monitoring servers of the System Monitoring shared service are changed to an autonomous state. Other monitoring agents that connected to the monitoring servers are automatically stopped.

To resume the monitoring service, deploy another instance of the System Monitoring shared service to this cloud group or environment profile.
