General navigation
SPE uses global and subordinate navigation menus, buttons, links, and other controls to guide you through the user interface and help you complete tasks. The user interface also assists your navigation with a link to more information in the online product documentation and contextual user assistance to provide timely information.
Global menu
The user interface includes a global menu that is always available. Access to each area of the system depends on the permissions that are assigned to your roles.
- Document Envelopes
- Access enveloping options that include control numbers, translation and transformation maps, XML schemas and DTDs, and code lists.
- Resource Manager
- Includes options for importing and exporting resources.
- Systems Management
- Used for managing user profiles, tenants, and general system settings.
- [User name]
- Used for managing the user's profile.
Navigation menus
After you select an option from the global menu, the side navigation menu provides you with a way to go to the subordinate pages for that option. Navigational options in the navigation menu are subordinate to the selected global menu option.

Links
SPE uses links to provide navigation to another page, and for inline and context-based actions. Click a link to go to a new location (such as information details), start a command, or do similar functions.
- View information about items that you created.
For example, click a code list name to view information about that object.
- Start a command or task.
For example, on the System Settings page, click the Browse link to select the system home.
Collapsible sections
Some pages of the user interface include a sequence of collapsible sections that compress chunked information like an accordion into a single page. You can open and expand each section of the page by clicking the section title. The following kinds of collapsible sections are used:
- Sections that open or expand to allow access to less frequently
used options.
For example, on the Code Lists page, you can open all of the sections to quickly access the functions that you need.
To view or change information that you previously entered in a collapsible section, click the section to open it.
- Sections that guide you through steps to create an item.
