IBM Streams 4.3.0
User authentication errors on SLES systems
If you are running IBM® Streams on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), IBM Streams users might have authentication problems.
Symptoms
You are not able to authenticate when prompted by the streamtool command or
when you attempt to log in to the Streams
Console. The following message is
displayed:
CDISR2503E The specified user name or the specified password is not valid.
Causes
By default, SLES uses the PAM UNIX2 backend, which prevents IBM
Streams from authenticating a user ID and password.
Resolving the problem
To resolve this problem, IBM Streams users can generate RSA keys for authentication or a user with root authority can update the PAM configuration. For instructions, see IBM Streams user authentication issue on SLES systems.
