Data recovery from incremental and delta backup images
You can use Optim High Performance Unload to unload data from incremental and delta backup images.
Optim High Performance Unload processes incremental and delta backup images exactly the same way it processes full backups. When an unload from an incremental or delta backup image is requested, Optim High Performance Unload determines the list of backup images that lead to the most recent full backup image that has been taken before the requested incremental or delta image. Optim High Performance Unload processes this list from the full backup image to the incremental or delta backup image that is specified in the control file.
If an incremental backup image is specified, Optim High Performance Unload will consider
the following backup images:
- the specified incremental backup image.
- the most recent full backup image.
If a delta backup image is specified, Optim High Performance Unload will consider
the following backup images if they exist:
- the specified delta backup image.
- the list of delta backup images that have been taken after the most recent incremental or full backup.
- the most recent incremental backup image.
- the most recent full backup image.
Attention: When Optim High Performance Unload unloads data
from delta and incremental backup images, Optim High Performance Unload can generate
very large temporary files in the staging area. The size of these
files will depend on the type of unloaded data. Make sure that you
have enough disk space for the unload to succeed.
